Hall of Honor - Class of 2014

2nd Annual Induction Ceremony held on Friday, January 16, 2015

Inductees: Charles M. Belisle, Casey Bourque, Crystal Corbeil, Jason Crepeau, Albert Daigle, Arthur Descoteaux, Robert “Desi” Desjardins, Brian Dumoulin, Richard “Doc” Labonte, Claude LeClair, John McKeown, Briana Neault, Karolina Pierko, Stephen F. White and Katie Willett.

Charles Belisle is a 1963 graduate of St. Louis High School. He attended the U Maine Orono and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Zoology. He later attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He also served in the U.S. Navy. 

Charles played baseball at St. Louis for four years and was a captain for his football team. He was Honorable Mention All State, a National Honor Society Student and School President. 

Charles went on to play football at the University of Maine and was the starting fullback for three years. He played in the 1965 Tangerine Bowl. He was a Captain of the team his senior year and was a Yankee Conference All-Academic selection for two years. 

Charles has been affiliated with Maine Medical Center since 1977 in the Department of Family Medicine. He has been the recipient of the Distinguished American Award from the State of Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame. In 2010, he was named Maine Family Physician of the Year. 

Casey Bourque is a 1995 graduate of Biddeford High School. He attended Florida Southern College. 

Casey was a three-sport athlete for Biddeford High School. He participated in golf, hockey and baseball. As a golfer he was a 4 time All-State selection and two time SMAA Player of the Year. His teams won championships in 1993 and 1994. Also, he was the individual state champ in 1994 and the Player of the Year in 1995. As a senior he won the Stephen F. White award as the top male athlete. Casey was a member of the National Honor Society. 

As a scholarship golfer Casey won three team Division II championships. As an amateur he was the 1992 Maine State Junior Champion. Also, he was a two time Maine State Golf Association State Team Champion along with his partner. 

Casey has been a professional golfer since 1999 and a Class A PGA member since 2001. He has competed on the Canadian PGA Tour, the US Open and many other professional events. He currently owns and manages PGA Golf Day and has published The Beginners Guide to Golf. He has five career holes in one and holds five course records. His all-time low is a 61 at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Chuck Clifford is a 1966 graduate of Biddeford High School. He attended Dartmouth College and later earned his Masters Degree from Rutgers University. Chuck worked as a Certified Public Accountant and in sales for many years in the Boston area. 

While attending Biddeford High School Chuck was a tremendous student athlete graduating in the top of his class. He excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He earned All-State honors in both football and basketball. Chuck is regarded as one of the very best basketball players in the history of Biddeford High School. He is also believed to be the only 1000-point scorer in the history of the program. As a Senior Chuck won the Steve White Award as Biddeford's top senior male athlete. 

Crystal Corbeil is a 1990 graduate of Biddeford High School. Upon graduation she enrolled at Northeastern University. 

Crystal was a standout three-sport athlete at Biddeford High School competing in field hockey, basketball and outdoor track. As a sophomore she earned the first of three consecutive state championships in the shot put. In her senior year she captured the state championship in the javelin. 

After high school Crystal became a standout track athlete at Northeaster University. She was a ten-time America East Conference champion and set the school record in the Women's Weight Throw and Hammer Throw. 

In 1992, Crystal finished seventh at the United States trials in the Hammer Throw and in 1996 she finished fourth. 

In 2011, Crystal was inducted into the Northeaster University Varsity Club Hall of Fame for excellence in the sport of Track and Field. She presently is an Assistant Track Coach at Binghamton University. 

Jason Crepeau is a 1994 graduate of Biddeford High School. 

Jason was a standout three-sport athlete at Biddeford High School. He participated in football, indoor track and baseball. As a football player he led his team to a State Championship in 1993 and also earned 1st Team All-State honors in 1992 and 1993. He played in the 1994 Lobster Bowl Classic. As a Shot Putter in Indoor Track he finished 2nd in the state in 1993 and 1994 with a personal best of 54'9". As a baseball player Jason was a 1st Team All Conference selection in 1992, 1993 and 1994. He was a 1st Team All State selection in 1993 and 1994 and was the SMAA Batting Champion in 1993. As a senior he played in the Senior All Star game at U Maine Orono. 

His storied career continued at the University of Southern Maine where he was a four-year starter for the baseball team. He was a member of the Division 3 National Champions. His name is littered in the USM Baseball Record Book and he is a 2012 Husky Hall of Fame inductee. 

Jason later came back to his alma mater as an assistant football coach, assistant indoor track coach and varsity baseball coach. 

Albert Daigle is a 1959 graduate of St. Louis High School. He attended the St. Anselm's College and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. 

Al was a three-sport athlete for St. Louis High School. He participated in football, basketball and baseball. In 1959, he was named All-State and All-American in football. Also, in 1959 he was listed in Parade Magazine as one of the top 500 basketball players in the country. Al currently is the city's all time boys basketball leading scorer with 1089 points. 

Al received a basketball scholarship to St. Anselm College in New Hampshire. He played four years of basketball. He was later inducted into the St. Anselm Basketball Hall of Fame. 

Al began his teaching career in New Hampshire and later returned to St. Louis High School as a guidance counselor until the school closed in 1968. He then shifted to Biddeford High School and became a guidance counselor. He spent thirty years working with students and assisting them with personal career goals. He helped many students get into college and was a mentor to many. He retired from Biddeford High School in 1998. 

Art Descoteaux was a three-sport letter winner at Biddeford High School in the late 1940's. He played on two undefeated football teams in 1946 and 1947. 

Art's coaching career started in 1959 coaching football and baseball. He later added coaching basketball to his duties in 1960. He coached all three sports through the 1960's before focusing on basketball until 1976. He later became the Director of Athletics at Biddeford High School from 1980 until 1984. 

Art was an outstanding fast pitch softball coach and has worked for decades with the Biddeford youth to teach the finer points of the sport. He coached several outstanding players in his 17 years associated with the University of New England. 

Art gave much of his summer to coaching youth in baseball and basketball. His invaluable talents showed many years later with the success of the programs at Biddeford High School. 

As a retired teacher and administrator, Art is recognized as a valued member of the Biddeford High School family. 

Robert “Desi" Desjardins is a 1960 graduate of Biddeford High School. During Desi's high school career he participated in Cross Country and Basketball. 

Desi's story begins after high school where he has been attending games for the better part of 55 years. He has over 150 scrapbooks dating back to 1966. Desi has hundreds of programs and signatures of student athletes to go with them. Desi has been the recipient of game balls from teams who value his presence at their games. Desi attends virtually every event and is a regular at practice after school. In 1985, he was named the #1 fan in the Yearbook. 

Desi's favorite memories are of the 29-28 Biddeford High School win over Thornton in football, the infamous State Championship Football comeback versus Waterville in 1994 and following the careers of Heather Briggs and Emily Rousseau who are also Hall of Honor Inductees. 

Desi has embraced Tiger Pride and revolved his life around Biddeford High School and student athletes. 

Brian Dumoulin is a 2009 graduate of Biddeford High School. 

Brian spearheaded two Class A Ice Hockey State Championships in his storied three-year career at Biddeford High School. During his career he earned All State honors. In 2009, Brian went on to play Junior Hockey for the Manchester Monarchs and led the team to the National Junior Hockey Championship. Upon graduation from Biddeford High School he enrolled at Boston College where he received a full four year scholarship to play Division 1 hockey. He was an integral part of two NCAA Hockey Championships. During his junior year he was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, which is given annually to college hockey's best player. In 2011, he also earned a bronze medal representing the United States in the World Junior Championships.

Coming out of high school Brian was drafted in the 2nd Round and 51st overall in the National Hockey League draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. On June 22, 2012 he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins and made his National Hockey League debut on December 14, 2013 against the Detroit Red Wings. He is currently playing with the Pittsburgh Penguins and recently scored his first career goal.

Richard "Doc" Labonte is a 1957 graduate of St. Louis High School. He was a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman received his honorable discharge in 1960. Doc attended the University of New England and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. He later attended the University of Maine and received his Master of Science Degree in Education. 

In 1976, Doc became Maine's and Biddeford High School's first Athletic Trainer. He obtained certification through the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification. In addition to his Athletic Training duties he taught Science at Biddeford High School for thirty-two years. In 1984, he was selected to serve at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. He spent time with the U.S. Olympics teams for the better part of 14 years. Doc was also involved with Biddeford Youth Football and he was the founder of the Waterhouse Field Lighting Association that brought back lights to the field. 

Throughout his career Doc received the Robert Lahey Sports Medicine Award and the Joseph Crozier Football Award. In 2013, he was inducted into the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honor. 

Claude Leclair is a 1981 graduate of Biddeford High School. Upon graduation Claude enrolled at the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine. 

Claude was an outstanding three-sport athlete at Biddeford High School. He excelled in football, hockey and baseball. In 1980, he captained the State Class AA Football Champions. He was an exceptional two-way football player and established the rushing record that has yet to be broken. He was an All State selection and became Biddeford's second James J. Fitzpatrick Trophy Award winner given annually to Maine's best high school football player.

Upon graduation Claude continued his playing career at the Maine Maritime Academy. In his three year career he rushed for 2414 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also caught 27 career passes for 408 yards and two touchdowns. Claude currently ranks in the top 10 all time in Maine Maritime Academy record books for rushing and all-purpose yards. 

John McKeown is a 1984 graduate of Biddeford High School. He attended the University of Massachusetts and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Law with a minor in Wildlife Management. 

John was a four-sport athlete for Biddeford High School. He participated in football, basketball, baseball and indoor track. As a football player he lead the state in scoring in 1982 and 1983. He was named All-State, was the Fitzpatrick Trophy runner-up and was named an All-American Running Back. As a baseball player he was an All-State Catcher. 

John received a full scholarship to play football for UMass Amherst. During his college career he was named to the All New England team, the 1998 Yankee Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Kodak All-American and Sports Information Directors All-American. Today, John's picture hangs as Legends of the 80's at UMass. John later played professionally in the Italian Football League for a few years.

Briana Neault is a 1998 graduate of Biddeford High School. She attended Boston University. 

Briana was an amazing track athlete while at Biddeford High School and arguably the top female in the State of Maine during the mid to late 1990's. She was a 9-time All Conference selection, 8-time All State selection, Southwestern Maine Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in 1996 and 1997, SMAA Athlete of the Season in 1998 and was the Brother Richard Hebert Award recipient in 1998. Her team captured the 1998 Class A State Championship. In 1995 and 1996 her 4x100 relay team broke the Class A record. Briana is the record holder in the State of Maine for the Indoor Track 600 meter (1 minute, 27.8 seconds) and Outdoor Track 800 meter run (2 minutes, 15.6 seconds). She also played three years of field hockey. 

Briana took her talents to Boston University on a full track scholarship. She specialized in middle distance runs while competing in the America East. She earned two All-Conference selections. In 2013, she qualified and participated in the Boston Marathon with a time of 3 hours, 16 minutes and 30 seconds. 

Karolina Pierko is a 1999 graduate of Biddeford High School. She attended Marshall University in West Virginia and later Tennessee Wesleyan College. 

Karolina played soccer and tennis while at Biddeford High School. In high school, Karolina never lost a set and went undefeated from 1996-1999. She compiled a 69-0 record including four straight MPA Class A State Tennis Singles Titles. She is one of two female tennis players to hold the record for four straight titles. 

Karolina played in a variety of Maine and US Tennis Association events and on four different occasions was ranked #1 in Maine and on two different occasions was ranked in the top 10 in New England. 

Karolina attended Marshall University and played in the #3 singles and #2 doubles position. She later transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan and became a 3-time All-Conference selection. She also became the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year on two separate occasions. 

In 2012 at the age of 30 Karolina won the prestigious Betty Blakeman Tournament and was also awarded the #1 Adult Female Player of the Year by the Maine Tennis Association. 

Steve White attended Biddeford Public School and later enrolled at New Hampshire State College. Additionally, he completed studies at the University of Maine, Harvard University and the University of New Hampshire. 

In 1922, Steve became Biddeford High School's Athletic Director, Physical Education Teacher and coach of the football, basketball and baseball teams. In 1923, his baseball team won the state championship and in 1927 the football team won as well. 

In 1952, Steve accepted a position with St. Francis College to coach three sports. Upon his retirement in 1957 he initiated recreational programming for Biddeford students. He founded Biddeford Grammar School Basketball and Baseball program. He was instrumental in creating the Waterhouse Field Association and was a driving force in building a new gymnasium at BHS which now bears his name. The school still honors him with presenting the annual Stephen F. White Award to the outstanding senior male athlete in each graduating class. 

In 1959, while addressing the football team he suffered a heart attack and died at Waterhouse Field. 

Katie Willett is a 1998 graduate of Biddeford High School. She attended the Providence College. Katie then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Sports Administration and Business Administration from Ohio University. 

Katie was a four-sport athlete for Biddeford High School. She participated in field hockey, basketball, indoor track and outdoor track. She earned many awards during her high school career including: three all-conference and four all-state selections. She was a State Champion in the indoor 400 meter, 4x400 meter relay team, 4x800 meter relay team and javelin. She also led her team to an outdoor track championship. 

Katie received a field hockey scholarship to Providence College in Rhode Island. She played four years of field hockey earning All Rookie team, All Conference and NCAA Woman of the Year for the State of Rhode Island. She was also a NFHCA Division 1 National Academic Squad recipient. 

Upon graduation from Providence, Katie received the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship. She now serves as the Associate Director of the Academic and Membership affairs for the NCAA.
