Biddeford High School and the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology hosted an expansive College and Career Fair on Friday, November 15, 2024, bringing together over 100 community professionals and college representatives to inspire students and broaden their horizons about future opportunities.
Designed to help students explore diverse career paths and post-secondary options, this annual event provides interactive sessions and one-on-one discussions with experts in the fields. From healthcare and trades to arts, business, and higher education, the day offered insights into the vast array of possibilities awaiting students after graduation.
Martha Jacques, Principal of Biddeford High School, reflected on the success of the event: “We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers and representatives who shared their time and expertise with our students. This day was about expanding their perspectives, encouraging thoughtful planning for their futures, and showing them what’s possible when they pursue their passions.”
Students participated in four sessions of their choice, as well as a college and vendor fair, engaging directly with professionals and college representatives to gain firsthand knowledge and advice. Faculty members assisted students during advisory periods in advance to ensure that session selections aligned with their interests and aspirations.
"This was an exceptional opportunity for students to see the connections between their education and their future goals," said Paulette Bonneau, Director of the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology. "The collaboration between the high schools we serve and our community partners is critical in preparing students for successful career pathways after high school."
The event also marked Biddeford’s ongoing commitment to integrating academic learning with real-world experiences. Following the morning sessions, students resumed regular classes, reinforcing the importance of balancing preparation for the future with their current studies.
